How does it work?

Simply install our software and select the files and directories that are vital to your business. Then, leave the rest to us…..it’s as simple as that!

A full backup is made from your selection. After encryption and compression, this is sent via a secure connection to our offsite servers, for safe and secure storage. Your data is entirely safe; our servers only store your encrypted data and no one can access it without your personal encryption key.

As files are edited, changes are automatically copied to our servers, ensuring that there is always an updated copy of your recent data.

Whenever a backup is made you can choose to receive an e-mail notification with a detailed report, reassuring you that your data is safe.

Our servers have multiple disk arrays and your data is securely held in at least two geographically different locations, which guarantees the safety of your data and ensures that there is always a copy available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

If disaster strikes, your data is recoverable through our secure web based interface, giving you access to your data from any web browser.

In a power outage could you keep on working?

During an extended power extended outage at their offices, one of our customers urgently needed to forward a file to their printers. With their own computers inaccessible they contacted us to discuss how the back up copy could be sent to the printers. We suggested they go to their nearest internet café and use the web based interface of SmartStep BackUp to access the file they needed. Within an hour the printer had the required file.
